In our world we often act from a position of fear and scarcity, believing that there is not enough for all of us. We think there isn’t enough money, water, food, education, etc. to meet our needs. And when we act out of a scarcity mindset, we act out of fear…and it shows.
We close up. We lose our creativity. We make poor decisions. We shut ourselves off from those who would support and help us. We often come to believe we are not good enough.
What a terrible belief it is!
But in fact the only scarce resource is evenly distributed: we each get 24 hours every day. We cannot get more, we cannot hoard it, we cannot save it up. We get what we get and we have to use it wisely and well…always. That is our time. Then we don’t take it into account when we plan our day, our decisions, and our careers. Time is the only resource we have that, no matter what we do, we cannot get more of. We can buy tools to help us become more efficient. We can rent other peoples time by hiring them to do tasks.
But we still cannot get more of our own time.
That is why it is so important to focus and to stay on track. Use your time really well. That is not to say there is not value in exploring or wandering. But if you spend your time doing that, learn from it. Process the experience. Bring it to your conscious mind and bring it into your business or your work. Gain the learning. What worked, what did not? What did you like, what did you not like? How can you integrate what you have seen and heard and experienced into your work? How can you use what you have learned to make the world a better place?
Our time is the very essence of our lives. I want you to use it well to enrich yourself and all of us. That is really what your work is all about. Not just making money, but bringing your unique experiences and viewpoints and way of seeing the world to the market place and making a difference for all of us.
